(1) In Audio Queue Services, describes one of two ways to stop an audio queue. Asynchronous stopping happens after all queued buffers have been played or recorded. (2) In digital communications, a transmission method that does not require the clock frequency of the sender and receiver to be the same. Compare synchronous.
